The Senior Director, Medical Affairs provides medical consultative and interpretive support to Covance Central Laboratory Services and its internal and external customers. The Senior Director is the named Medical Director for all regulatory licenses and permits for the Indianapolis facility including but not limited to College of American Pathologists, CLIA, New York State, NGSP, CDC Lipid program and others. The incumbent is responsible for medical decision-making and consultation relating to laboratory services and clinical trials. Additional responsibilities include consulting with Quality Assurance, Safety Committee, Investigator Site Support, Project Management, Sponsors, and Investigators.

This physician executive position requires a doctor of medicine degree with Indiana licensure and other states as required.
Certification in Clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate comfortably with individuals at all levels from a multitude of educational, scientific, professional and national or international backgrounds.

Preferred:
Certification in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
Added Qualification in Hematopathology by the American Board of Pathology
Experience that satisfies the personnel requirement of CLIA 1988 and New York State (as well as other applicable regulations) for laboratory director.
Knowledge of clinical laboratory systems (testing, operations, finances, and information).
Must have laboratory management experience (people, processes and clients) and demonstrated financial awareness.
