POSITION SUMMARY

Heat Treatment Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the heat treat equipment for HUB bearing manufacturing process from an engineering standpoint. This hands-on position focuses on maintaining and improving processes as well as new product development.

Heat Treatment Engineer works closely with the Quality department to maintain the highest quality standards are being met consistently.

Primary job functions:

  • Maintain stability and quality of heat treatment process of HUB bearing components.
  • Develop and maintain heat treat programs/recipes.
  • Strong focus working with production department to identify process waste and increase productivity.
  • New product development and launch (PPAP/APQP).
  • Design and modification of tooling and fixturing.
  • Maintain and control inventory for heat treat coil/jigs/fixtures/etc.
  • Induction heat treatment coil repair.
  • Technical communication - develop work instructions and train associates for newly implemented changes.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Improve ease of operation for production associates.
  • Strong focus on maintaining product quality.
  • New equipment installation and start-up.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Experience: 1-3 years' experience with induction heat treatment is preferred.

Computer Skills: MS Office, CAD systems required.

Other Requirements:

  • Induction heat treat experience
  • Familiarity with CQI-9 requirement is a plus
  • PFMEA
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience in automotive, manufacturing or machining environments preferred
  • Team interaction skills - must be capable of success in a team oriented environment
  • Demonstrate strong tendency for continuous process improvement
  • Detail orientated
  • High mechanical aptitude
  • Resourceful - willing to try different approaches to tasks or problems to find the most effective resolution
  • Advanced analytical skills and problem solving skills required
  • Must possess a willingness to be actively involved in a hands on position

We run a 24/7 auto parts manufacturing plant, where we do CNC machine work for CV Joints/HUBs.
