Position Overview | The Opus College of Engineering at Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI) invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor to teach Mechanical and Electrical Systems for Buildings (CNEN 4815) in the spring 2024 semester from approximately January 15, 2024 to May 31, 2024. The class is 3 cr. hrs. and meets on Tuesday and Thursday for two 75-minute periods per week. The course provides basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems used in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings; the advantages and disadvantages of various systems; and how their design and installation integrate into the management of the building process. Particular attention is given to soliciting and managing mechanical and electrical subcontractors. |
Duties and Responsibilities | Provide lectures and other delivery of course content, develop and assign homework, tests, and other items as needed, grade assignments, assign midterm and final class grades, and provide at least four hours of office time per week to answer student questions. |
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Masters Degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree. |
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | A Ph.D. in engineering is highly preferred. Past experience teaching engineering courses and a professional engineer (PE) license are preferred. |
